Happy Thanksgiving! Grateful for the past year in our practice

So grateful for the past year and the many individuals and families whom have entrusted me to help them in their most important and stressing matters. Thankful for my own family and friends as well and it is great to continue eating endlessly with them into the night! Happy Thanksgiving ya’ll!

New firm photo and video shoot at the office and around KC – stay tuned!

Behind the scenes of great fun yesterday doing some shoots in the office and around town with Rondevu Pictures! After putting in a full day, we deserved some fancy drinks at Julep KC close to my office in Westport. Thanks to our assistant Melissa for her help in putting together a great day, but be aware, when you decide to order the same cocktail as her, it will taste like ice cream and literally have a flower in it! It was good though! I also had my first mimosa! lol what. a. day.

Attorney Wichman celebrates after last few weeks of winning multiple cases at trial

What a fun and rewarding last two weeks….amongst the multitude of normal hearings on other cases, I had 6 cases that were set for trial that could have all realistically gone, which means I had a lot of late night and weekend prep going on. Four of them did, and two of them granted late continuances (a delay) by the Judge based upon my request, which was in the best interests of my client, to put them in a better position to resolve their matters most favorably later on. All went well with successful outcomes for all that went to trial…one settled favorably in the moments before the start of trial (which is the outcome my client really desired instead of going through the trial), another was able to have the prosecutor dismiss all the charges at the start of trial, and the other two were decided in our favor by the Judge after putting on the trials. Thankfully, all wins and great outcomes for my clients. When I noticed yesterday coming back to the office that my donut place neighbor, Donutology, whom I share a parking lot with, had a new PIZZA donut, the Pizza Donado, along with their prior known to me ICE CREAM donut, the Donado, I knew that a “pizza party/ice cream party” there is how I would reward myself for this little run of hard work! A bit unconventional, like all Westport, but seriously good!

Criminal Defense Lawyer Kevin Wichman enjoys Super Lawyer’s Reception on the Country Club Plaza in KC, MO

Quite a day and night this past Thursday after putting on and winning a trial for a client during the day, and attending the Thomson-Reuters Super Lawyers reception for 2019 selectees at night on the Country Club Plaza. I am grateful for the honor and to be selected again for the 4th year in a row as a Super Lawyer Rising Star, which is whom Thomson Reuters determines to be the top 2.5% of attorneys under 40 or less then 10 years in practice for both Kansas and Missouri. A great time mingling with other colleagues and judges who were selected, followed by a continuing celebration into the night and making new friends in Westport…with the final stop at the food truck after bar closing! Look for the full list and details on the selection process of this years selectees in the KC Star and 435 Magazine in the next months!

Nice trial win for an order of protection client leads to nice thank you gift for our office in new Apple tech!

Last week I won a trial for a client who is an Apple support technician…the kind that has the most soothing and calming voice that politely talks to you on the phone for hours in helping you with your devices, and our only witness, whom did a great job testifying, also works for Apple as well at the Town Center store. In further appreciation for the win, they hooked me up with a ‘friends and family’ discount this past weekend and I got to say I think I need to do one of those YouTuber “haul” videos because I got so much stuff hahaha. I have been all Apple for a long time so this was a great treat that also happened to conincide with my birthday! Thank you for the kind words and testimonial Shelene, it was a pleasure to help you get the justice you deserved, and thanks to you and Marvin for the assistance in upgrading the firm to the latest in mobile and laptop devices and getting me some new AirPods and other “work” toys…I put them to good use today for the first time hopping from courthouse to courthouse. I will miss going off on a tangent from the details of the case to talk Apple tech with you….but good to know I got a direct line now to assistance!
