Community Involvement

Kevin Wichman doesn’t believe just in giving back. He believes in going forward.  His guiding mission focuses on underserved individuals throughout Kansas City, who deserve the same opportunity for justice and fairness in the complex judicial system.

He currently serves as Director of the Legal Clinic at the rapidly growing Vineyard Church in the Northland. He provides pro bono service on a wide range of legal issues.

Kevin also serves as a Guardian ad-litem – a court-appointed attorney for at-risk minor children – in Jackson County, Missouri.  He has successfully investigated and advocated in court for minor children in cases of actual or alleged child abuse and child neglect.

He participates regularly in lawyer outreach media to help viewers understand personal injury law in their everyday lives.  While in law school, he was a popular weekly spokesman on a Michigan radio show, where he drew many listeners because of his ability to explain legal terms clearly. He has been an ‘Ask-the-Lawyer’ volunteer with the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) and with Fox 4 News.

Kevin believes strongly that attorneys should reach out to youth to show the positive role of the justice system in our society. He serves as a judge and mentor for ongoing mock trial competitions at the high school level in Olathe, Wichita and Kansas City.  He is also a judge and mentor for regional area law school mock trials at Jackson County Courthouse.

Kevin remains involved with the American Association for Justice as a member of the practice section for Criminal Defense. He stays current on trends and issues in the Kansas and Missouri laws and courts as an active member of parallel practice sections for the Kansas Association for Justice (formerly the Kansas Trial Lawyer Association) and Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys.

Kevin’s love of the law is complemented by his love of sports and even more community involvement.  A disciplined and competitive athlete, Kevin played soccer at the elite premier level in Johnson County throughout his youth, at Bishop Miege and at K-State. Kevin continues his passion for the sport as Head Soccer Coach for Turner High School in Kansas City, KS.
