What to do if You Have a Warrant for Your Arrest For Tickets in Miami

If you have a warrant for your arrest from a traffic ticket in Miami, it is likely do to you failing to appear at your court date. It is not uncommon for people to forget about the court date that they have for their traffic matter, especially the first one that was provided to them on the ticket by the officer. Other times there is a new letter mailed to your address on your license providing a rescheduling of your court date and it is not received properly by the Defendant for a multitude of reasons that may or may not have been the fault of the Defendant. If you have a warrant of this nature it is called a bench warrant and the Judge in your traffic ticket case has made a directive to the police to arrest you and to bring you to court to answer for the charges since you did not appear on your own. There is often a bond amount provided for already by the judge that will be required of you in order to bail out before you can leave jail or the conclusion of your case. If this is your situation, give us a call. If you hire us to help in your case, we can help to lessen the bail out to make it more affordable, or remove the warrant altogether after a request to your Judge to make those changes, which is often granted in some respect.

What are the Consequences of a Florida Traffic Ticket

The easiest option of paying your ticket may seem like a good idea, however, it can have serious consequences, especially if you have had multiple moving violations in the past, and even more so if they were recent. Multiple moving violations can suspend or revoke your diver’s license for a year or more which would create great hardship to most drivers. Some specific tickets like a DUI or passing a stopped school bus can trigger automatic suspension for a specified time period even with a clean driving record. We look to help people avoid the conviction that would cause the suspension.

Traffic tickets can also negatively impact your driver’s insurance by increasing the premiums or even not be able to renew your insurance with that company and have to get more special and expensive coverage with another company. Insurance companyes typically review their policyholders’ driving records every six to twelve months to determine premium increases and anything that can suggest poor driving, such as a speeding ticket, that could lead to an accident they would be required to pay for will make it more likely for them to raise your insurance rate for the next 1-5 years depending upon the company. We seek to withhold the conviction on your record for any traffic ticket that would raise your rates so that you don’t have problems with your ability to have insurance as it is required to drive legally.

What if I am a Professional Driver or CDL Holder? Defending Commercial Drivers – CDL Tickets

Commercial driver’s license holders (i.e. truck drivers) face much more consequences when they get a ticket outside of court due to a conviction in that they can often lose their job from a single conviction. Losing your job from a ticket will always depend upon your employer as it is their decision but their policies are tough due to pressure to keep clean driving records on their drivers from their insurance provider. This makes any case for a CDL driver very important as not only do they face the same consequences as stated above for any driver, but they have a real chance of hurting their way to make a living and support themselves. Our CDL ticket attorneys are extremely well-versed in CDL law and provide qualified representation to drivers and trucking companies across the country.

Other Types of Tickets that Can Impact Your Life

Police officers will give tickets for matters beyond traffic tickets in Miami and South Florida, and we regularly help with those matters as well. Some times they come at a traffic stop as part of the same incident with a traffic ticket and sometimes they are completely different incidents. Rest assured that we can handle all these ticket matters from a police officer and you are able to hire a single attorney to cover the whole situation. Our founder, Attorney Kevin Wichman, is not only an award winning traffic ticket lawyer, but also an award winning and top rated criminal defense attorney, as traffic tickets are in the same system as criminal cases, even if they are simply infractions of the law and not “criminal”, and more serious traffic tickets are criminal cases as they can put you in jail and prison. Some of the other types of tickets our Miami ticket attorney can help with includes:

Where Do We Defend Tickets?

Our traffic lawyers cover most of South Florida, and if it really makes sense we will go anywhere else in the State of Florida as well in order to make your situation get better. We are focused on the Tri-County Area of Miami-Dade County, Broward County, and Palm Beach County, so we would only go outside of those areas or surrounding counties when it is somehow related to those counties indirectly. We suggest that you take the time to call our office to discuss the court where you r case is located at and we will see what we can do for you. We will certainly be accepting new cases at the Miami-Dade County Courthouses, Broward County Courthouses, and the Palm Beach County Courthouses.
